How to Prepare Your Home’s Exterior for the Fall and Winter

How to Prepare Your Home’s Exterior for the Fall and Winter

Published Date: August 25th, 2014 | Category: Exterior Painting

Believe it or not, the summer is coming to an end. The kids are returning to school and soon enough, Halloween and Thanksgiving will be here. As a company that offers exterior house painting in the Twin Cities, we have a few tips on how to make sure your home and your home’s exterior paint are cold-weather-ready.

The first thing you want to do is take a long walk around your home. Are there any parts of your home’s exterior paint that needs a little TLC? Snow and ice can wreak havoc on your home’s exterior if your house hasn’t been painted for a while. This is why it is so important that you schedule an appointment with us for our exterior house painting services.

You also want to visually inspect for any cracks or areas that need recaulking. When you hire us for exterior house painting, one of our most important steps in the process is to recaulk any gaps or holes we see in your exterior walls, so hiring us is a great way to get both of these chores done at the same time!

It is important to get your home painted as soon as possible before the worst of the cold weather hits. That way, you get a spot on our busy schedule and you do not have to worry about hazardous winter weather having to delay the exterior house painting job.

Finally, take a look at your roof and gutters. Make sure your gutters don’t need to be cleaned out. Winter can bring even more precipitation and, with that, comes even more debris to potentially clog your gutters. If your gutters get backed up, this could cause the roof to leak. And that is an even bigger problem to worry about in the long run!
